Project Connect

Children and youth experiencing homelessness face unique challenges that can impact their educational success. Project Connect works to eliminate barriers to education by providing comprehensive support for students and families experiencing homelessness.

Services include assistance with enrollment, attendance support, access to in-school and summer programs, and guidance to help students remain engaged in their education. Through these efforts, Project Connect helps ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically.

Technology Tools

Focus – Student Information System (SIS): https://focus.cps-k12.org/focus/auth/

Focus is Cincinnati Public Schools’ official Student Information System (SIS).

Teachers use Focus to record attendance, manage assignments, and report grades. Students and families can access Focus to review assignments, monitor academic progress, and view grades. Focus serves as the official gradebook for all CPS students.

While many teachers also utilize Canvas to support classroom learning, Focus contains the most complete and accurate grading information and should be considered the primary source for student academic records.

Canvas is Cincinnati Public Schools’ Learning Management System (LMS), designed to support teaching and learning in a digital environment.

Teachers use Canvas to post instructional materials, assignments, announcements, and other course resources. Students use Canvas to submit assignments, participate in discussions and learning activities, and stay informed about classroom expectations and coursework.

Please note that all teachers use Focus for grade management; however, the use of Canvas for course materials and assignments may vary by teacher and school.
